Experiencing rhythm is medicinal. Whether we are dancing, singing, playing or simply listening to music within the rhythm, we tune ourselves into one another and ultimately, the universal vibration. We know that music is the universal language and there is a primordial attraction to syncipating with the rhythm around you. Music is a way to connect and connection is medicine. In this series, we will gather mindfully, explore rhythm through mantra and learn to express through sound what our heartspace intends. This will be so fun and feel so good! We will be lifting our voices together in harmony!

In this 2-part offering Meggan will offer guided practices in dhyana, or meditation, in Mantra, or sound utterance and in pranayam, or breath work. Combining these three efforts will vitalize, relax, restore and align the participant. An emphasis will be placed on the sound aspects of mantra, chanting and singing. Participants are welcome to use their voices or simply listen and meditate. Please arrive dressed comfortably and prepared to sit on the floor with or without studio props for the duration. We will breathe efficiently, direct our awareness, then open our voices and hearts!

Mala Making with Taylor Godfrey

Saturday, March 26, 2022

11:00am - 2:30pm

$85 Investment

Mala (aka garland) is a tool founded in ancient Indian Hindu culture for devotional practices. A Mala would be incorporated for chanting rounds of mantra on each bead. Each Mala has 108 beads (the sacred, universal number) plus a guru bead (teacher). There are strategic practices in place to honor the cycle of mala chanting and to also complete practice. In true Hindu chanting, the chant will be repeated 108 times for each bead, then repeated 16 times.

However, today, in the growing western world not everyone has that bandwidth or access to — we use them as a symbol towards our devotional practice, whatever that looks like. You can chant or say a prayer on each bead. You can utilize it as a tool for praying, or a talisman for protection to wear through out the day. It can stay on your altar, be a symbol of rites of passage for new motherhood, a partnership of love, a growing career, etc.

It’s meaning and use has evolved over time— but in large has served as a sacred tool and reminder for something important to each individual.

In our time together, we will learn about the roots of Hinduism, the various practices of Mala Chanting, Chants, Devotional Practices and the plethora of deep symbolism in the Mala. Class will include a brief opening meditation/intention, a step by step hands on process for crafting, and there will be an abundance of tassels, charms, and extra pendants to choose from.

This class gives you the option to choose your healing stone bead. You may choose up to 3 different beads, or keep it simple with one. Please registers and place your bead order by Friday March 11 to ensure you get the beads you want to work with.

What to bring: snacks, water, a small altar cloth/scarf, tweezers. May bring a personal pair of scissors, otherwise we will have one pair to share.

Text Taylor with your bead order or any questions: 630-479-0363

Saturday, March 5, 2022

11:00am-2:30pm

$55 Investment

Join Samantha and learn how to paint your very own mandala! In this Mandala Mindfulness workshop, you will create a beautiful mandala which you will infuse your own intentions and blessings within it. Samantha will guide you through how to paint an energy portal and focus on setting intention as you create the base/background for your mandala. Then, allow your creative juices to flow as you draw a one of a kind mandala design! I will have my gallery on site for inspiration and for examples of different designs you can play with.We will begin with a short meditation to set our intention and get into a creative space. Then the painting shall commence! Canvas size is 12"x12" and we will be using acrylic paints for the background and paint markers for the mandala design. What is a Mandala? Mandalas have been around for centuries and are primarily used for meditative purposes. Many cultures have been known to use mandalas as a form of Soul and Universal expression. They have been seen in Buddhist traditions, Muslim architecture, Native American rituals and more. Mandala is a Sanskrit word that translates to "sacred circle". Although, mandalas are much more intricate than just a circle! They are a representation of the Universe, of the microcosm and the macrocosm, and a symbol of balance, centering, and unification.
